How to Start an Online Business (a simplified Outline)

Most people have almost been brainwashed into thinking that the only way they can earn money is to work for someone else…Yes, this was perhaps true a generation or two ago, but with the arrival of the internet and automated technology, ANYONE can start up their own business and make huge amounts of money online.  Here is a diagram depicting a simplified process of accomplishing this.

Decide the type of

business that you want

Build a Website/Blog

Monitize the Blog/Website

Get Traffic

There are many hosting companies to choose from (ex., Wix.com, Wordpress.com,  Blogger.com, Yahoo.com, and  Godaddy.com). I recommend wix.com because of the many features and ease of use.

One of the easiest and most effective ways of “monetizing”  your Site is to join an “affiliate program” and place their “links” and/banners on your website.  Many stores (such as Advanced Auto Supply Stores, Walmart, Victoria Secret, etc.) have affiliate programs already…They have also already created their links/banners… Once a visitor to your site “clicks” on a particular item and “buys” it, you get a commission added to your account.

A Site with no traffic is like a store with no customers!

BBuild a Website/Blog:   There are many hosting companies to choose from (ex., Homestead.com, Wordpress.com, Blogger.com, Wix.com, Yahoo.com, and Godaddy.com).   I recommend Wix.com for this moment.  Click here for additional info on wix.com.  Here are three tools one needs to create a profitable online home business:

          1.  A domain name - The domain name is like the signboard for your shop.  It is the place people will go to

find your business.  Additionally, choosing a good domain name will help ou brand your business as well

as make it easier for others to find your business online.  For our example, we will call our domain name

jewelryandwatchshowcase.com.  (Go to a site like Godaddy.com to check whether or not the name

is available).  The official domain name will be https://jewelryandwatchshowcase.com.

           2. Website hosting - Website hosting is required for you to store your files (which make up your website)

online.  It is essentially the "physical shop" of our online business.  For this example, I recommend that

you sign up for a FREE hosting account with wix.com.  If you choose to create a website (for example,

Jewelry), the actual domain name (with a wix.com account) will be https://jewelry.wixsite.com.

You can also upgrade your account (if you like) at a later date,  causing the .wixsite part to be dropped

from your website name.  You may say, "What about the domain  jewelryandwatchshowcase.com

which I really like?"  Don't worry.  Anytime you are ready, that domain can be made to "point" (this is

called "domain forwarding") to the name that was used in your wix.com account.  Thus, when anyone

invokes the domain name https://jewelryandwatchshowcase.com, they will automatically be

taken to your newly wix.com account.  Whether you are registered with wix.com or some other hosting

company, your desired domain name can always be "pointed" to where ever your account may be.

            3.  Credit card or online payment processor - Any online payments are done easily using payment

processors.  The payment processor company will "eat" a small percentage for each transaction, but it

offers a simple and secure way to perform transactions online.  I recommend getting a FREE business

account at www.paypal.com.  There are no "credit qualifying requirements" that must be met in order

to get a paypal account.  This is what allows you to accept various credit cards that your customers

may use to purchase from you.  To put it simply, having a paypal account is what allows you TO GET

PAID for services offered through your website.  As your website become more complex and you

become more advanced with your business, you may employ other tools (such as email marketing, etc.).

But for now, this is enough to get you started and allow you to have a very, highly profitable website.

CMonetize the Website/Blog:  One of the easiest and most effective ways of “monetizing”  your Site is to join

an “affiliate banners program” and place their “links” and/ on your website.  Many stores (such as Advanced Auto

Supply Stores, Walmart, Victoria Secret, etc.) have affiliate programs already…They have also already created their

links/banners… Once a visitor to your site “clicks” on a particular item and “buys” it, you get a commission added to

your account.  Click here for an example.

DGet Traffic.  A Site with no traffic is like a store with no customers!  There are two types of traffic:  FREE traffic and PAID traffic.  Starting off, you may want to learn as many "free traffic" methods as possible.  Click
